-
Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance
found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells.
-
It’s normal to have cholesterol. There are two
types: good and bad.
-
Too much cholesterol puts you at risk for
strokes and heart disease.
-
75% of cholesterol stems from our body. The
remaining 25% comes from the food we eat.
-
HDL (good) cholesterol burns fatty deposits
that may clog your arteries. LDL (bad) cholesterol can cause
plaque deposits to build up in our arteries and stiffen
them-therein blocking circulation.
-
Everyone is different. If some of your family
members suffer from high cholesterol there is very little proper
dieting and exercise can do to significantly reduce your bad
cholesterol levels. Remember, 75% of cholesterol is made
naturally: heredity and genetics matter.
-
Check with your doctor or cardiologist and have
your blood cholesterol checked regularly.
-
As usual, a steadfast diet, vigorous physical
activity, and a sound mind and body well help keep your
cholesterol levels in check!
