Description:
Type
1 diabetes is characterized by loss
of the insulin-producing
beta cells
of the
islets of
Langerhans of the pancreas leading
to a deficiency of insulin. It is less deadly than Type
I diabetes. Bad lifestyle choices such as eating junk food and lack
of exercise primarily cause Type II diabetes.

known as “Juvenile Diabetes” because it primarily develops in
childhood. It is inherited from relatives.

as adult-onset diabetes because it occurs in middle age.
